FLIR Security Solutions Protect Munu, an Endangered South-Western Black Rhino
In 2019, rangers working at a South African National Park found a black rhino walking in circles and visibly disoriented. After safely tranquilizing him, they discovered that this rhino, today known as Munu, had suffered two detached retinas and irreversible blindness. South African conservationist Brett Barlow quickly stepped in and teamed up with FLIR Systems to protect the endangered blind rhino.

FLIR Fido X4 Receives ASTM E2520-15 Performance Certification
The FLIR Fido® X4 premium handheld explosives trace detector (ETD) has been certified by Signature Science, LLC in accordance with the ASTM International method for Standard Practice for Measuring and Scoring Performance of Trace Explosive Chemical Detectors (ASTM E2520-15). Study: Fused Thermal and Radar Automatic Pedestrian Detection and Braking
FLIR Systems Inc. contracted VSI Labs to develop a proof-of-concept AEB system that fused perception data from a FLIR ADK’s ethernet-based Boson® thermal camera and a Delphi ESR 2.5 radar. The radar provided range data and the thermal camera provided object detection and classification. VSI recently conducted initial performance tests based on Euro NCAP requirements at the American Center for Mobility (ACM).
