5 Best Practices for Data Center Perimeter Security
A recent IHS Markit report predicted that, by 2030, there will be 125 billion Internet-connected devices participating in the now well-known and widespread Internet of Things (IoT). Network surveillance cameras, lifestyle wearables, and smart home devices are all prime examples of IoT solutions today that are capturing an unprecedented amount of information. Now, there are more than three million data centers in the U.S. that are storing, processing and protecting this data. This data has become essential to everyday life for consumers and businesses alike. Consequently, perimeter security for data centers must be taken seriously. It is essential to execute strategies that proactively address security threats and prevent security breaches that would result in the loss of critical information.

5 Ways You Can Use the FLIR identiFINDER Handheld Radiation Detection Systems
Handheld radionuclide identification devices (RID or RIID) are most often used on the frontline to detect, locate, identify, and secure gamma and neutron radiation hazards. They can also be deployed as a secondary verification tool at the site of a radiological event to deliver the spectroscopic information needed to identify a specific nuclide. Different scenarios require different detector sizes and sensitivity. The FLIR identiFINDER® R-series includes a range of handheld radiation detectors with performance that is scalable depending on the operational need. Here are 5 ways you can use the identiFINDER R400, R425, R440, and R500 RIDs.

Detecting Pests with Thermal Imaging
Thermal imagers are an increasingly popular, non-intrusive solution for finding pests in walls and other hidden places. From rodents to hornets to termites, many homeowners and building maintenance professionals are using thermal to quickly locate nests and avoid spreading chemicals like insecticides around homes. However, successfully finding pests requires understanding a few key things about thermal imaging.

How Does Emissivity Affect Thermal Imaging?
Emissivity is a measure of how efficiently an object radiates heat, i.e. how well the surface of an object “tells the truth” about its temperature. Emissivity values range from 0 (a theoretically perfect mirror that reflects all energy) to 1 (a theoretical object called a blackbody that perfectly absorbs and radiates all energy). Notice that the emissivity values of 0 and 1 can only be achieved in theory: in reality, physical objects can be better described as ranging from 0.01 to 0.99 on the emissivity scale.
